To be a top player in any industry today, you are almost required to be creative in some way. Even my friend who is studying to be a financial accountant (which is entirely numbers and you may assume no creativity) had to get creative for companies to notice her resume. She had to start a Texas Longhorn Model Competition and commence writing columns about it, promoting it to the local news, etc. And now Dolce & Gabanna is looking at her for an internship in accounting!
Well today I think this is true for the companies as well. As a communication student, I receive e-mails regarding various internships all the time. They list who the company is and where they are located, how many hours they expect the intern to complete weekly, and what kind of duties they will be responsible for.
There are two Tallahassee agencies that I think are doing a much better job of this. I received an e-mail a few days ago from Kidd Public Relations. They first listed all of the normal details you would expect. Then, they followed the details with this paragraph:
"We are seeking ambitious and motivated students looking to work in the fast-paced agency setting. Our interns are treated like associates and given challenging yet rewarding projects. If you want to get the boss coffee - this is NOT the place for you. If, however, you want to see what the real world is all about and be part of a highly motivated team - then look no further."
Its not much, yet it still stands out. Previously they hosted an Internship Competition which they portrayed similar to The Apprentice. These extra paragraphs and exciting competitions are almost like their resume to me. They make me attracted to this agency.
The other agency is probably a little more obvious if you're reading this blog. Tom and the Catch Your Limit team are incredible examples of this. How many times have you heard of an entire agency teaching a class? Yet its brilliant! It offers the students practical insight into how angencies really work. I am able to observe my professor's creativity on a daily basis, through their personal examples, analogies and their simply their innovation with our class. At the same time, I'm sure that hearing 30 or so students offer their creative ideas once a week helps keep them fresh too. What an ingenious way to raise the creativity bar in an already creative industry!

Stacy, thanks for the kudos! And, thanks for letting me know where my staff has been hidding out on Monday nights.
The fact is we are not only learning how to teach better because of you, but we are learning amazing things from you in return. Your ideas, insights, energy, collaberation abilities, optimism and determination to succeed are not only enlightening, but inspiring. As long as you keep up the good work, we'll keep doing our best to meet and exceed you expectations.
