Ok so apparently there was an Absolut ad for the Mexican/central American market that US customers found out about that caused them to boycott the Spirits broker. The ad is a picture of what a map of Mexico looked like around 1848.
American customers apparently misconstrued this ad to mean "Absolut supports Mexican claims to the US" or some other outlandish thing. The Swedish Vodka's blog was blown up by angry Americans who poured all their vodka down the drain and refused to buy any more unless the ad was pulled.
In a normal situation, we as people would punch our over sensitive friends and tell them to "get over it" because its not a big deal--its just a bloody ad. But in the corporate world you have to apologize for the ignorance of your customers and their hyper-sensitivity to issues that really have nothing to do with them.
