User created. It seems everyone's taking notice on the phenomenon that is user created content. From allowing players to develop their own levels in video games and uploading them for everyone to take part in to award and television shows having winners of the contests to be decided by the audience, the phase continues. This blog specifically deals with ESPN's take on the subject.
Airing recently, you have one of the anchors of SportsCenter discussing the topic and how it applies to their telecast. At first, you're thrown to their desk where they have two other anchors asking the viewers to text in what they would like to talk about and who they want to talk about it (of the two anchors). At the end, they ask if they (the viewers) want teddy the cockatoo to dunk. Directly after asking, they roll a clip of this "famous" cockatoo dunking into a tiny sized basket with roller skates on. For some reason or another, I found this hilarious. More importantly, it stepped into a boundary you don't normally see from the "This is SportsCenter" commercials. Basically, what they did was not incorporate a star athlete from a certain sport. They maintained there humor and yet I feel gained a new audience, due to this twist.
Unfortunately, the commercial has not been fully released online. The second half of the entire clip is shown below. Once again, you can tell this is not even part of the final version, because you can hear someone laughing in the background and in addition, the audio overall is a bit fuzzy.
