Hempfest

Yesterday FSU hosted the fifth annual Hempfest at the Rez. It was fun and informative! The festival was filled with loads of activities from canoeing, sailing, swimming, volleyball, rock climbing, ROPE course, arts and crafts and many more. A stage was set up by the lake and bands played all day until eight o'clock when the festival was over. Hemp enthusiasts were selling jewelry and clothes completely made from hemp and for a very low price. Information huts were constructed to house projects put together by FSU students about the uses of hemp and its history. After a long day of hemp filled fun this is what i learned...

did u know that the declaration of independence and the constitution is written on hemp.

If the US used 6% of its land to grow and process hemp we would be a self sustaining country.

Hemp is stronger and longer then cotton, its 5 times easier to grow and process, it requires no pesticides or insecticides, it can grow pretty much anywhere, and is 10 times more resistant to mildew than cotton.

Leading researchers and nutritionists say that hemp seed is among the healthiest and nutritious foods on the planet.

You can make anything and everything from hemp except glass and metal products.

hope to see you guys there next year!
