REALITY TV OVERLOAD

Ok, so is it just me, or does it seem like there are more reality tv shows now than there ever was before? Partly because of the writer's strike that recently ended, all of the television networks seem to have gone the easy way out and created a slew of reality shows. I admit, I am a fan of reality tv, but I don't know how much more I can take. VH1's Rock the Cradle is absolutely ridiculous seeing as I couldn't even sit through any of the performances. Step it Up & Dance is embarassingly bad, and the host was the star of the infamous movie Showgirls. The Next Child Star makes the parents on the show look like loony, fame-hungry idiots. The Real Housewives of New York City is pretty addictive, but I can understand why millions of New Yorkers are offended on a weekly basis. Make Me A Supermodel was ok, but anti-climatic. Aren't these producers running out of people to choose from? Are we all going to be on reality tv show at some point or another? I think the reason why many of us watch television in the first place is to be entertained and to escape from reality. It is pretty hard to do that when most of the people on television are not real actors and are pretty average in every sense of the word. Reality TV used to be an outside of the box concept so to speak, but now all of these shows are lumped in the same box titled "cliche".

It's because of the writer's strike, no writers=more reality tv. Speaking of...is the writers strike over now? I never heard the final verdict on all of the negotiations. Also, its cheaper to do reality shows. You don't have to pay actors when there is an abundance of fools dying to get their 15 minutes of fame.
