Usually I feel really old when I list all these things out. I keep thinking that no one my age has had time to do all these things between drinking and school. Haha...I wonder if my employers think the same and wonder if I lie on my resume just to seem cool?
Grown up Job 1: Sign Shop
I worked here doing vinyl signs for businesses and lettering cars and boats and stuff. Its really my first graphics job, even though I had to keep it simple for the plotters sake. The coolest thing I ever did: The sign for Cast Net seafood resto in Crawfordville. It took 12hr days to finish on time.
Grown up Job 2: Consulting firm
This is the job that I learned the most life lessons with! It was a tiny firm--just me and my boss. So I had to do everything from making coffee and getting his dinner to design, concept development and yes, even creative strategy. We did a lot for non-profits and others in town...like political stuff. It was too hard doing the work of an entire agency by myself while being a personal assistant so I jumped ship. The coolest things I ever did: Planning & executing an art show for 2 artists and 100 guests in less than 2 months. Planning & executing (including catering & decorating myself) an authors reception for the authors of Crashing the Gate at the FSU Law School.
Grown up Job 3: The State
Currently I work for the Florida Department of Environmental Protection making all sorts of boring collateral materials. Its really starting to drain my creativity since the state...well...sucks. If you've ever been to a sate park and gotten a brochure--I made it. The coolest thing I ever did: a 10 ft. tall display to go to the capital for the Governor's Conference.
Grown up Job 4: Freelance
I've worked for a few places doing a lot of little things. Like the logo for "Tiger flex" (Kuriyama of America). For about a year I've worked for a small PR firm in West Palm as their primary designer. Locally I've done a little work for Studio 920, but of course, most of the stuff I do is for friends :P The coolest things I ever did: designing game boxes for an independent game designer.
