Idea Amenders

I'm confused by the buzz word term "Thought Leader" everybody keeps throwing around. There are an abundance of definitions out in the world but what does it truly mean? Of the definitions I've read the overwhelming majority consider a component of thought leadership to be the re-packaging of old ideas. Really! Old ideas? I thought the whole objective was to come up with new ideas, processes, innovations. To me that is what makes a leader.

I'm all for changing processes already in place for the better but do those changes truly demonstrate leadership? Maybe we can change the term to "Thought Adjuster" or "Idea Amender".

I've met tons of worthy people who I would consider thought leaders. Heck, people who come up with a new knot for fishing lines seem of value to me. But it seems that people who change a process/idea already in place for the better get the lions share of credit.

Idea amenders are and will always be necessary and I'm not saying that their ideas are unoriginal, but I'd like to give credit where credit is due. Thought leadership is a powerful tool and one that we try to implement every day... mostly good, sometimes not so good. But that is what makes it fun to work. We create innovations to help others succeed, or catch their limit. If we ever become a company of idea amenders, I'm outta here.
