If you guess remember my Creative Industry Assignment was to interview HR at an Ad Agency and ask: what skills are entry levels lacking? what positions are most difficult to fill at this level?
Here are the results:
Ad Agency representatives believe we are lacking:
--Writing skills
--Discipline/ Professionals
--Ability to work with databases and numbers
Ad Agency representatives find these positions difficult to fill:
--Media Planner/Researcher
--Good Writers/ Designers
Now that we know what we may be lacking, here are some ways to improve personally and professionally according to a study released in September 2005 by the Washington, D.C.-based leadership and training company Leadership IQ:
--Coachability: ability to accept and implement feedback from bosses, colleagues, customers, and others.
--Emotional Intelligence: ability to understand and manage one's own emotions, and accurately assess others' emotions.
--Motivation: sufficient drive to achieve one's full potential and excel in the job.
--Temperament: attitude and personality suited to the particular job and work environment.
--Technical Competence: functional or technical skills required to do the job.
Hope this helps you as you plan for your futures and start looking for internships and/or start planning your careers.
