I think it is safe to say that we are all victims of texting or dialing while driving. Or, if you're a girl, have mastered the art of driving while finishing your makeup and most likely talking on the phone. I'm surely guilty of this! Unfortunately this has caused deadly accidents in the U.S. In fact, there was a recent train crash that was speculated to be cause by the driver being distracted by text messaging and therefore missing the red light. Well a Canadien software company, Aegis Mobility, has announced that it created a software called DriverAssistT that actually can tell whether a cell hphone is going at a car's speed. If so, it will alert the cell phone network and tell it to hold calls or texts until the drive is over. Callers will be told that the person is driving and will be given the option to leave an emergancy voicemail. In order to work, Aegis has to get the permission from cell phone providers. It doesn't have any agreements yet, since it just came out, but they are working on it! All this was actually started by a parent who works at the software company whose child was killed by a driver who was distracted on their cell phone! Amazing what one person can start! Distracted Driving

That is the irritating thing about this whole deal. If someone is driving with a cell phone and gets in a crash, it is attributed to the cellphone. Not the idiot behind the wheel. People who blame cell phones will blame anything else. Bright street lamps in the eyes, crying children, swamp gas reflecting the lights from Venus.
If cell phones were really a distraction, and banning their use while driving is the answer, why stop there? Why not ban music? Ban conversing with passengers! We'll go one more step and just ban passengers.
The solution is to stop letting stupid people drive.
Ummm...yeah. Looks like somebody talks on the phone while they drive.
