When faced with the problem of how to produced art that was new and unique, artist Christian Faur experimented with wax as a medium. His finished products weren't up to par and he continued to expand his artistic palette.
In 2005, his daughter opened up a box of crayons and it clicked. He uses individual colors of the crayons to create portraits, landscapes and photo realistic scenes as if they were pixels like a TV. Thousands of crayons are stacked on top of or packed into a container to form these beautiful works of art (top left).
"In my work, I try to mimic these elegant structures of nature by developing systems of my own with which to express my thoughts and ideas, so that the medium and the message appear as one," states Faur in his artistic statement. Crayons are one of the many wild mediums he puts to use. He also works with vinyl, fabric, shredded paper, wax and fibers. There are a variety of themes and concepts that he develops, all which are posted on his website www.christianfaur.com. Some interesting pieces

are seen with the theme of math, weaving people and panels together with angles, formulas and geometry (bottom right).
