DSTV Commercial and Magazine Ads

Lately I have been really into keeping up on what other countries are creating..If you have looked at my past few blogs, they have all featured commercials from other countries, and their creative strategies seem to be perfect for their target. Here is an DSTV advertisement from Asia..the concept behind DSTV is having choices, so this agency applies this to arranged marriages (something common in Asia). I just thought this ad had the perfect amount of entertainment, humor, and point to make an impression. See what you think.

On a more serious note, I was reading an article in Ad Age about magazine publishers and their troubles during this economic time and I found out that some of them are taking measures to make ads more affordable for clients, therefore having more funding for their magazines. One thing that magazine publishers are changing is putting a shorter lead time on when Ads are due. This helps out clients tremendously because one of the main reasons they are not putting ads in magazines is not because they do not want to, its because they can't get budget and creative approved in time. Some companies are also eliminating Bleed charges, something I had no idea even existed. Apparently when technology was not as developed, it was more expensive to print all the way to the edge. That just isn't the case these days, and those charges are still being implemented with some major companies such as Conde Nast. Just wanted to update everyone on these things, the good thing is that change is happening, even though its happening slowly.
