This picture caught my eye when I was flipping through a magazine in CVS waiting for my prescription to be ready. It is in Brazil where there is obvious economic hardship. The artist behind the eyes is known to the public as JR. His real identity cannot be released because his creations are placed on public property illegally.

How can he create such massive canvases? Through working with locals and fellow enthusiasts of the cause, he carefully executes the process of putting up massive displays from full portraits to close ups of eyes. His canvases include bottoms of pools, stairs, fountains, walls, trains and buildings. They are people who have in some way lived through or currently in a crisis.

His website displays his works but I highly recommend you click through a few of the pictures because they are all unique and beautiful.
