Here's Your Promise Shank Back!

When Willy Wonka goes on an acid trip and holds sanction over a prison, you get what is known as Superjail! A show that I believe is the best original animated comedy to come along to adult swim in quite some time. The show usually ranges from 10 to 12 minutes per episode, but with each installment, mayhem reeks from every corner given its shortness.

There's a handful of constants throughout the series, but above the rest there are four characters that shine the light to what truly is Superjail. First and foremost is the Warden. The Warden runs the joint and is oblivious to his callous attitude. Second we have Jared. Jared is the accountant who simply said, is a nervous wreck. Third, we have Alice. This woman (if you want to call her that) is the sole prison guard in the vicinity that has more masculine mannerisms than Jared and the Warden put together. Finally, there's Jailbot. A robot shaped as a tombstone that captures the inmates and keeps them in check.

Superjail has two halves to every episode. The first half establishes a story. For instance, in one episode, the Warden decides to create a bar just to have a date with Alice. Of course, it doesn't go as planned as she brings one of the inmates as her date instead. The second half of each episode is basically a nonstop flow of continuous destruction. Let's just say chaos erupts throughout the prison for some reason or another. In the same episode as mentioned above, the inmates start building an escape pod in the women's bathroom to go through some underwater tunnel. When they open such an exit, all the sea creatures you can think of explode onto to the scene and completely obliterate the bar and even some inmates. Which brings me to a side note. It seems through all the episodes I've seen, there's an infinite amount of inmates.

Just to clarify, this show is not for the faint of heart. It is a bit intense and may haunt your dreams, in a cartoonish way. If you're at least watching something on adult swim, then you should check it out. If not, maybe the art style might convince you. Hopefully this show will find its way to a new viewer.
