PBR vs Gasparilla

While many of my friends raged in Tampa as the pirates invaded the bay, I decided to stay in Tally and get into something a little different. I found myself at the Tallahassee Civic Center at 8:00PM on Saturday night, standing in a long line of redneck families and drunken students sporting their best camo jackets and cowboy boots. For $29.00, I watched guys our age attempt to ride the 40 wildest bulls the states have to offer. Riders are judged on the difficulty of the bull, length of the ride (maximum of 8 seconds) and hand positions to earn a score out of 100 points.
The PBR is not just a bull riding contest. Its a big production with rodeo clowns, free stuff and the best people watching I have ever experienced in my life.
Tallahassee definately showed the PBR some love this weekend. The show almost sold out every day and I totally would have bought a shirt if I had cash. Who knew that credit/debit was a foreign means to payment inside the walls of the Donald Tucker Center.
The PBR finals are in Las Vegas this year but who knows, maybe Tallahassee will be the next town to host such an honorable event.
