Spongebob has lost its zing

Ok so this weekend I was bored and channel surfing and came across a Spongebob marathon on Nickelodeon. I'm sure that most of you if not all rarely or even ever watch SB, I myself use to enjoy it quite a lot, until recently when I saw some of the newer episodes and was deeply disappointed. Its not funny and SB voice is higher and more abnoxious then ever and the jokes are just plain ridiculous and cheesy slapstick humor, not to mention the artistic design is different as well. I thought maybe its just me and my humor maturing but then I saw some of the classic episodes mixed in with the new and still enjoyed the old to a great extent. SB used to throw in a few moments of mature humor that I and other older veiwers could enjoy, which is why a lot of young adults became infatuated with the little square yellow sponge. Sometiems it even reminded me of the great Ren & Stimpy back in the day, but now its become just another stupid kid show trying way to hard for laughs.
