I didn't know this but this upcoming holiday is actually named after two among the numerous Early Christian martyrs named Valentine. Until 1969, the Catholic Church formally recognized eleven Valentine's Days. The Valentines honored on February 14 are Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni. To add some other fun facts, the U.S. Greeting Card Association estimates that approximately one billion valentines are sent each year worldwide, making the day the second largest card-sending holiday of the year, behind Christmas. The association also estimates that, in the U.S., men spend in average twice as much money as women.
But this year, the day before Valentine's Day, we have Friday the 13th. To add to that occurrence, the movie Friday the 13th comes out as well. A remake of a little story about a killer named Jason and what he did in a small camp called Crystal Lake. With Michael Bay on board and the directors of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, the equation seems to equal success. On top of all that, in one of the trailers you see Jason running for one of his kills. That's right, run. When have you ever seen Jason run? He always walks up to his victims. I'm indeed excited for this version. What I find funny, guys being guys, I can see guys asking their Valentine dates to join them in watching this film. Well, at least the ladies know they don't want a guy who is overly sensitive, which may convince them to join in.
