Breaking Through the Clutter

Okay girls, we've all seen (and for the most part ignored) countless tampon ads all trying to tell us their product will make our period so much better, some even going as far as to say they make the experience enjoyable. FINALLY, there's a company out there that's taking a different approach. Kotex's new product, U by Kotex, is breaking through the clutter and saying what we've all already known. Tampon ads are ridiculous. Their new commercial, which takes a very down-to-earth approach, uses humor to mock all the obnoxious tampon commercials out there that show clips of happy girls (always wearing white) twirling and doing cartwheels, seemingly thrilled to be on their periods. We've seen so many of these that we don't even realize anymore that that is not at all how the experience is. U by Kotex is a "reality check" that makes the brand seem more in-touch with real women and like a product we can trust. Not only are they trying to be funny and get us to notice their ads, they are trying to get girls to challenge the norm and feel more comfortable talking about their periodxs, creating more awareness of the importance of taking care of yourself in that area. I think the whole campaign is brilliant and has a really great message behind it. Check out their website to see more about it: http://www.ubykotex.com/

I actually just saw this last night and thought it was hysterical! I think it's great that they recognize how ridiculous the commercials are and have now come up with something humorous--which is completely different from what they regularly do.
