Google Mania

In just this past week alone, I have learned about two new product launches by the one and only, Google. Apparently their team has been working intensively for the past couple years trying to crank out all sorts of new stuff for the tech savvy generation. Google Wave and Google Chrome are two concepts that I have caught onto this week. I found out about both of them through friends, which is ironic because it doesn't seem to be that Google is doing anything intense to create a viral campaign- it just appears to be happening for them. This is marketing at it's finest.

For everyone who doesn't know, Google Wave is an online software application, described as a "personal communication and collaboration tool." Basically, what this means is this one application combines every application we currently use. It's a combination of email, instant messaging, wikis, and social networking. It supports communication with text, maps, videos, images, and more. It's good for group projects because you can "go live" with your group members and instantly edit and share documents without having to email back and forth. It can also be used for photo sharing, organizing events, meeting agendas, brainstorming, and gaming. It's WAY cool and I highly encourage everyone to use it for their projects!

Google Chrome, on the other hand, is a Web browser. It has only been out since December of 2008 and as of February 2010, it was the 3rd most widely used internet browser. People LOVE it. It works in record speed and doesn't seem to have the common crashes that Mozilla Firefox often does. The layout is unique and it remembers my actions in order to make navigation faster and easier for me. A lot of the navigation reminds me of a Mac which also, in turn, makes it extremely user friendly. It's fun and a nice change from the same old, boring browsers.

It's always good to be knowledgeable about the latest product launches. If you have a free second, try them both out!
