"Believe" Campaign
This week I was in the process of researching an agency to prepare for an interview, when I came across the Halo 3 campaign. If you are a Halo player, you may agree that this type of game is for a serious game..A very specific group of people is typically in this target market. Well, the agency's mission was to get everyone that doesn't play halo, or doesn't know about halo to become interested. To do this, the agency realized that they would have to take it a lot further than marketing a video game to catch the attention of the un-interested. If you are unfamiliar with Halo, this is a game in a war setting combating aliens vs. humans. They decided to treat the game as a memorial for all of the heroes; they made this war come to life. They created fictional museums, monuments, virtual tours, and "first hand stories" from the men that were there. To take it a step further they even created documentaries. Additional advertising included war-photography exhibits (you could even see these in person), posted plaques, street murals, and stamps. Now, if this doesn't take a video game to the next level, I am not sure what can!
